Bin Laden Books: la libreria del grande terrorista

L'Ufficio della National Intelligence (ODNI) americana ha pubblicato "una tranche consistente' di documenti recuperati nel corso del raid (2011) contro Osama bin Laden e la struttura organizzata per per nasconderlo. Tra i molti documenti trovati, sicuramente uno dei più interessanti riguarda l'elenco dei libri (e altro materiale di lettura in lingua inglese) che si trovavano sugli scaffali delle librerie di Bin Laden al momento del raid. Questo dimostra che non sono il solo a considerare librerie e scaffali dei dischi una parte fondamentale delle nostre dimore. Ora, se si riesce a credere alla storiella della CIA (anche dopo aver letto la recente sfida di Seymour Hersh alla narrazione degli Stati Uniti dell'uccisione di Bin Laden), allora sembra che lo stesso bin Laden non era un gran lettore di narrativa. E, soprattutto, ha trascorso molto tempo a leggere libri che gli hanno permesso di "conoscere il suo nemico" - e per dare un senso alle sue motivazioni politiche, religiose e militari, rafforzarle  per giustificare la sua guerra agli americani. Bin Laden ha letto alcuni libri che potrebbero tranquillamente stare nelle librerie di ognuno di noi - libri come Ascesa e declino delle grandi potenze di Paul Kennedy, La Guerra di Obama del grande Bob Woodward, e The Oxford History of Modern War di Charles Townsend. Un buon numero di libri confermano la sua visione catastofica dell'America. Non uno, ma due dei libri di Noam Chomsky in bella vista, accanto a titoli come: Le migliori democrazie che il denaro può comprare; e Imperial Hubris. E prima che si abbia l'impressione, distorta, che Bin Laden potesse avere simpatie di sinistra dalle sue letture, consigliamo di esaminare i libri sulla teoria del complotto tanto in voga nella destra dura americana - vale a dire, Bloodlines of Illuminati di Fritz Springmeier e The Secret of Federal Reserve di Eustace Mullins. Poi ci sono i libri che, mettendo da parte la politica, sono semplicemente sintomo di desolazione culturale, come ad esempio 2030 Spike: Conto alla rovescia per la catastrofe globale. Più si guarda l'elenco, più si avrà un quadro della personalità (e della psiche) di bin Laden.
